Bren Yarbrough Bruhn![]() After working as a nursery school
teacher, a bookkeeper, a pharmacist's
assistant, and a model/waitress, I was
finally able to follow my dream of
pursuing a more creative career. I
wrote my first book about twelve years
ago. Rather lengthy, it was summarily
rejected by several publishers,
largely due to its sheer volume.
Floundering in self-doubt, I put the
writing aside and undertook a new
artistic endeavor---repainting fashion
dolls. But it wasn't enough just to
repaint the dolls and dress them in
period costumes. There had to be a
story behind every doll! Some have
never been completed, but each story
has the potential to become much
more. It was through this process
that I learned that as much as I love
words, I didn't need to use so
many of them. The stories
written for my dolls often attracted
more attention than either the dolls
or the costumes, and I received so
much positive feedback about them that
I was given new confidence in my
writing skills. Due to the
encouragement of clients, friends, and
even absolute strangers, I was
convinced to try writing again. Theme Pages |
