REVIEW

"Julie Kenner has broken new ground with this one!"

Julie Kenner has broken ground with this utterly fascinating novel that takes 'detective novel' to new heights! While different from what she usually writes, it still has the stamp of what has made Julie Kenner a must read.

Jacey is an artist who decided by her 28th birthday that she would give up art and do something normal. Okay, so she's approaching her 30th birthday and she still hasn't taken the art world by storm. She met a guy on vacation and just sort of clicked with him until she mistakenly thought he was a serial killer and ran out on him.

Now Jacey decides that she's going to hire a private investigator to find Al so she can apologize to him about thinking he was a serial killer. She hires David Anderson because he's cheap.

David wrote one successful true crime novel and it went over like gangbusters but David thinks that true crime is just too much work and he wants to write the great detective novel in the tradition of Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer. He also wants to travel but right now he has to take care of his Aunt Millie. To do that he has become a private investigator so he can generate some much needed cash.

So when Jacey asks David to find her boyfriend, he reluctantly agrees. If they only knew what they were getting into and all the trouble this would cause, they might have rethought this whole situation. But that's neither here nor there and off they go. David even enlists his Aunt Millie and his best friend Finn to help out. So what are David and Jacey thinking about when they suddenly want to spend all their time with each other? It's not like they both want the same things in life, far from that. They just need to take care of the situation at hand and move on with their lives but can they do that after everything is said and done? Only time will tell.

This one had me on the edge of my seat and flipping pages as fast as I could read them. There wasn't anything about this book that I didn't like from the plot to the characters. I'm just so glad to know that Julie has a story for Finn because if she didn't, I think I'd have to start bugging her for it! This one is highly recommended.

Summary

Sexy P.I. David Anderson takes one look at Jacey Wilder and knows she's no femme fatale. The red-headed smart-aleck in his office couldn't be more different from the tight- skirted dames he creates in pulp fiction novels. But Jacey is a paying customer and he's encountered precious few of those lately. All he has to do is track down her old boyfriend. How hard could it be?

With her thirtieth birthday fast approaching, Jacey is determined to get her life on track. Locating Albert- a suave, normal guy who romanced her one weekend-seems like the logical first step. But when she enlists the services of P.I. Anderson, logic is suddenly in short supply: Albert's not as normal as he seemed, and Jacey's starting to wonder if the man she's really searching for isn't right under her nose...
