"A wonderfully imaginative fantasy."
DAYSPRING DESTINY concludes the tale of Elinna, a Master of
the House of Lohenrin, and her race to save her planet from
destruction which was begun in Ms. Berry's DAYSPRING
DAWNING. Elinna and other inhabitants of Gaea who are gifted
with khi power have dedicated their lives to learning to
develop their talents under the tutelage of the demigods
known as S'hazons. For a thousand years the S'hazons have
guided and enhanced the lives of the people by eliminating
famine, war and disease. All they asked in return was to
receive the devotion of the members of the House of
Lohenrin. But now an ancient religion has been revived. It's
practitioners have built a Temple to the Sky Gods and no
longer worship the S'hazons, but accuse them of evil intent,
and ulterior motives. A deadly comet is headed for Gaea and
will destroy them all in ten years if those with khi power
can't find a way to stop it. The S'hazons and the best and
most talented Perceptors of the House of Lohenrin are
relocating to another world, leaving behind Elinna and the
few remaining Perceptors who are unwilling to abandon their
people to their fate.
They must find a way to stop the comet, but in the meantime
they also have to deal with possible war, plague and
starvation that is sure to result from the desertion of the
beings who have always prevented these dangers. The members
of the Temple also pose a threat. They want to see the House
abolished. When one of the Perceptors who fled with the S'hazons
returns bearing a tale of horrible betrayal, Elinna and the
others must decide if they should try to rescue those who
abandoned them. It may not matter in the end, if they don't
find a way to stop the comet. A dream sent to Elinna by the
Sky Gods about an ancient stone may provide a clue, if only
she can decipher the message in time. I enjoyed spending time in Elinna's world again. She is a
strong, admirable heroine who must go beyond her own
independence and sense of betrayal to discover a very hard
lesson; that she cannot save her world alone, but must
accept help from others. She must learn to trust again. Ms.
Berry has penned another imaginative fantasy so riveting
that I just couldn't put it down.

SummaryDayspring Destiny is the sequel to Dayspring Dawning. On an
alternate earth called Gaea, Elinna Serru will face new
tests of her mastery of the Power.
For thousands of years the fate of humankind has been
mysteriously interwined with the demiurges that have ruled
over the island kingdom of Atlaua -- first the Sky Gods,
then the S'hazons. But these demigods have their own
secrets, hidden ages ago in the Heart Stone.
Many adepts have attempted to read the Heart Stone in the
past. But all have failed. Now Elinna Serru must wrest the
truth from its crystal depths, for the fate of the House
depends on the knowledge it conceals.
Gaea's children are split between two worlds, and both
worlds may be doomed unless someone can bridge the gap and
reunite humanity. Will the Heart Stone show the way? In
Dayspring Destiny, Elinna Serru will face her greatest test,
a test not of the Power but of her heart and soul.
