REVIEW

"Full of page turning excitement!"

I'm a big fan of military romances and in my opinion, Candace Irvin writes some of the best ones! All of her books are hard to put down once I start reading them and this one lived right up to my high expectations!

Captain Eve Paris and her co-pilot and best friend Carrie Evans fly their Black Hawk into San Sebastian in Central America to pick up Captain Rick Bishop and Sergeant Bill Turner. Carrie and Bill are in love even though Carrie is higher rank than Bill and he's enlisted but neither cares. Carrie and Bill have eyes only for each other. Then Eve and Carrie realize that something is wrong with the Black Hawk but before they can do anything they crash. Carrie and Bill are killed but Eve and Rick survive.

Now, Eve and Rick have to get out of the jungle before they are caught by rebels and killed. They spend a harrowing time but are finally rescued. After they get back, Rick has to give a statement as to what he thinks happens and because of his statement, Eve is stripped of her wings. Now Eve wants to go back to the wreckage to find out exactly why the Black Hawk acted like it ran out of gas and went down.

Rick feels guilty about the whole situation so he decides to take leave and accompany Eve to see what they can find out. Besides they both have contacts who might be able to help them. When they arrive in Central America, not only are they shocked at what they find but there's something else going on as well. Not only that Eve and Rick are reluctantly falling in love with each other but neither have the time nor the inclination for love. What are they to do about this situation?

This was one roller coaster of a ride from the first page to the last. I hung on for the duration and was hooked. Eve and Rick were perfect for each other even if it took them a while to figure it out. Each was equally as stubborn but I didn't give up hope that they would finally figure it all out. I hated the fact that Carrie was killed but I'm crossing my fingers that Candace Irvin will write stories for Eve's other "sisters". I highly recommend this book!

U.S. Army pilot Eve Paris' entire life changed when her chopper crashed in the Central American jungle, leaving her battered and wracked with guilt at the loss of her copilot and best friend. In an attempt to learn what really happened, Eve and Rick must return to the crash site. But being back in enemy territory soon proves safer than revisiting the scene of their first heated kiss...
