I've been eagerly waiting for this sequel to A WOMAN FOR DUSTY CONRAD. Believe me, this book was well worth the wait!

John Sparks had been interested in Darby Parker long before his very best friend in the whole world Erick Conrad started dating her. Once Erick laid claim to Darby, John backed off immediately. Since Erick was killed though, John tried to stop by every once in a while to check on Darby and her twin girls. One day when John stopped by, he found Darby in the barn crying. Things got out of hand and now Darby has something very important to tell John.

John is stunned. He still thinks of Darby as Erick's wife and even though he has feelings for Darby, he doesn't know what to do at first. Then of course he proposes marriage to Darby. She promptly refuses but tells him that she wants him to have full participation in their baby's life.

Lindy and Erin, Darby's twin girls have somehow gotten the idea that Erick is coming back so they suddenly treat John as if he was yesterday's garbage. Darby and John are devastated and do everything they can to get to the bottom of this dilemma.

Meanwhile, somehow everyone in town finds out about John and Darby's big news. Dusty corners John and gives him a black eye while everyone else just gives them advice. Darby still refuses John's proposal but John decides he won't give up. Darby already feels as if she had trapped Erick into marriage by becoming pregnant with their twins and she doesn't want to trap another man into marriage. So they are at an impasse but for how long?

I fell in love with John in A WOMAN FOR DUSTY CONRAD so I was very happy when he got his own story. Darby was the perfect mate for John. He was the exactly the right man for Darby to fall in love with after Erick's death. As always, Tori Carrington has given me an outstanding read. I can't wait to read what's next!
