REVIEW

"This futuristic will catch your attention from the first page!"

Ravyn Verdier is living a nightmare. She doesn't know how it happened but she's the only survivor of a massacre of the Colonization Assessment Team on Jarved Nine. She cowers under her bed until she hears movement and believes that whoever murdered her co-workers is back for her.

Damon Brody, on a routine mission with his Spec Ops team, hears an emergency beacon coming from the CAT headquarters. They go to investigate and find nineteen people dead. Ravyn is the only one alive in the whole building and she doesn't know what happened. While Ravyn tells Damon her story and they retrace her steps, his team is brutally murdered as well. Damon and Ravyn know that they have to get away to somewhere safe immediately and decide to try to make it to Old City.

Later when Damon thinks about it, he realizes that the CAT team was laid out in a flower pattern complete with stem and petals. His Spec Ops team was laid out in a lightening bolt pattern. What does this all mean?

As Ravyn and Damon travel towards Old City, Damon feels an evil presence following them but only after they've bathed, so they coat themselves in mud to keep the being from finding where they are. As they travel, they become closer and closer. Are they becoming closer because of the tragedy they've suffered or are they truly in love? What will they find in Old City?

I am a huge fan of the futuristic romances that are being published. This is one of the best I've read. I could actually picture in my head the descriptive world that Patti O'Shea has created. I know I tuned everything and everyone out in order to finish this book as quickly as possible. I enjoyed this one so much that I hope that she will give us Alex and Stacy's story quite soon. I will keep a watch out for more books from Patti O'Shea!

Summary

Ravyn Verdier is on a mission to test the habitability of Jarved Nine. Damon Brody is sent to rescue her when the rest of her team is mysteriously killed. Trapped on a planet that harbors an unimaginable evil, they have only each other.

An abandoned city holds the key to their survival, but what they find behind its ancient walls defies all their preconceived notions and tests the limits of the bond that has formed between them. To succeed, they will have to cast aside their doubts and listen to their hearts. For only when they are linked body and soul—when they realize love is their greatest weapon—will they be able to defeat the force bent on destroying all life.
