"Medieval With A Twist"
When Ysabella was eighteen she married Merlyn
Lammergeier, laird of Ravensmuir. She was a peasant girl,
but her temperament, which matched her fiery red hair, had
brought her to Merlyn's notice. They shared a
wonderful two weeks, then Ysabella had discovered Merlyn's
secret. She fled back to her village, forced to endure
the status of a woman without protection. Some of the
villagers distrusted her and there were rumors of
witchcraft. For five years Merlyn had left her alone. Then one day he
appears in the village seeking Ysabella. She makes her
disapproval perfectly clear even while she tries to ignore
how he makes her feel. Merlyn leaves, and it appears he
will not pursue her again. But the next day, his servant
arrives on Merlyn's horse, with news that Merlyn has been
murdered. His keep, Ravensmuir, is now Ysabella's. She is
tempted to turn away from Ravensmuir, but her siblings have
been raised in poverty and she accepts the necessity of
providing for them. Almost as soon as Ysabella takes up
residence she realizes that there are secrets at Ravensmuir
that she may not want to uncover. THE ROGUE is a medieval with a twist. It is told from
Ysabella's perspective, and her memories are intriguingly
presented in small bits. Merlyn's secrets, his feelings,
and his plans must be discovered as Ysabella learns them.
This gives THE ROGUE a sense of mystery that is not typical
of many romances. Ysabella is a courageous, responsible
woman doing her best to provide for two younger siblings.
She is also, obviously, a woman of intelligence. If you
enjoy an air of mystery in your romances, then this is the
book for you.

SummaryMerlyn, the eldest, as dark and enigmatic as a new moon, is
the first of whom we shall hear. His wife, Ysabella, fled
his side five years past when she learned the truth about
him. She thinks the matter resolved, when Merlyn comes to
her again, entreating her aid. Shocked by her response to
his presence, she does the only sensible deed, and declines
to aid the thief and murderer who is still her spouse.
And the very next day, word comes to Ysabella that Merlyn
has been murdered...and worse, he has willed his every
possession to her. This includes the family keep of
Ravensmuir....but does it include Merlyn's notorious trade?
