"This story takes us from England to China and back!"
This story takes us from London, England to China
and back. While this is an historical romance, a bit of a
mystery is thrown in for good measure. Rebecca Sanderson finds out that her parents have
ultimately betrayed her by trying to force her to marry a
man not of her choosing. It's not that Rebecca doesn't
want to get married. It is just that she wants to do the
choosing herself. She decides to run away but her intended
bridegroom Roger sees her and gives chase. She jumps into a
hack but finds it occupied by a gentleman, Jonathan
Dillon. She tells him her situation and Jonathan convinces
her that she should go home. He escorts her home and makes
sure she gets there safely. Rebecca's parents decide to send Rebecca to her
uncle in China as punishment and to teach her that she must
behave her future husband and her parents. When Rebecca
gets on the ship, she has an idea that she will run away at
one of the ports of call. What she doesn't know is that she
will meet Jonathan again as he is the Captain of the
ship. She also has no way of knowing that this will be
the adventure of her life! This story had me hooked. I felt as if I had to
read chapter after chapter to see how this most intriguing
book would end. Rebecca was a strong willed young woman
who knew just want she wanted. She just had a little
problem figuring out how to go about getting it. Jonathan
was equally as stubborn but he knew that he wanted Rebecca
and he would do all in his power to see that she felt the
same way. For fans of historical romance with a mysterious
twist to it, this is one to relish!
