"Romance and suspense in an all around good story!"
Manuel (Manny) Sanchez can't believe the scumbag is
getting away. He's chasing him as fast as he can but when
the van goes out of control on a bridge and Manny loses
control of his motorcycle causing it to skid, he thinks it
is much too late. Manny injures his shoulder but has to
save the baby before the van goes into the water. He
barely makes it in time but when he tries to lift the baby,
he can't because of his shoulder. An angel in the form of
Randi Cullen comes to his rescue. She's on the way home
from working late and stops to help when she sees the van.
What she doesn't know is that Manny isn't the baby's
father. He's an undercover federal agent trying to break
the case of Operation Rock-a-Bye. He only knows that it's
somehow tied to a ranch near where he's chasing the van. Randi takes Manny and the baby home with her for
the night. When Manny finds out that Randi owns the ranch
in question, he doesn't know what to do. Is she part of
the baby-kidnapping ring? Then Manny's boss wants him to
stick around, so he and Randi decide to marry in name only,
to help finally see if they can get this case settled once
and for all. Neither foresees their growing attraction for
each other and their love for baby Ricky. What will happen
when Manny and Ricky have to say goodbye? This book, while tied to the on-going
investigation, didn't make that the main focus. This book
was solely Manny, Randi and Ricky's book. It was endearing
to see the growing love each had for the other and how they
enfolded Ricky into that love. I thoroughly enjoyed this
book and look forward to reading more books from Linda
Conrad!
