REVIEW

"COLD DAY IN JULY"

Marc Girard returns to Toussaint, Louisiana after years of being away from the small town. He is there because he is convinced that the woman who died in the church belltower is his long lost sister Amy. First he has to convince a skeptical town that he is really there to find his sister and not to take away everyone's livelihood. While there he meets up with a stubborn redhead from his past.

Reb Sinclair is the town doctor of the sleepy little town. Even though she is skeptical that the woman in the casket is Marc's sister, she agrees to help him. While helping Marc she will find that a mystery long thought solved is not really solved at all.

COLD DAY IN JULY is the latest contemporary by favorite author Stella Cameron. Set in a small town in Louisiana, it features the sort of characters that you expect to find. From Sheriff Spike Devol to Reb's poodle Gaston, there is never a dull moment. You even get to revisit with Father Cyrus, last seen in one of my all-time favorite books FRENCH QUARTER.

COLD DAY IN JULY is filled with the sensuality and unexpected twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will love this book as much as I did and if you're like me, you will hope this isn't the last visit to Toussiant, Louisana.

Summary

Toussaint, Louisiana, a sleepy bayou town where people are accustomed to feeling safe among the cypress trees, the mist off sluggish waters and Spanish moss trailing from live oaks. Good time living to a zydeco beat. Yeah! Then, the body of singer Bonnie Blue is found, her neck broken. Local doctor Reb O'Brien doesn't believe the gossip--that Bonnie accidentally fell to her death. She remembers all too well the murders of two other woman a couple of years earlier. The killer was caught and placed behind bars. Now, what happened to Bonnie raises chilling questions about a case thought closed--and someone is trying to frighten Reb into leaving well enough alone.

Marc Girard believes the dead woman may be his missing sister and, though he vowed to stay away from his hometown of Toussaint, he comes back to search for the truth--even if it means joining forces with Reb, a woman he left behind along with his past. With only each other to trust, their mutual wariness gives way to a passion that marks them for gossip in a town ready to explode--and makes them vulnerable to the greatest betrayal of all.
