REVIEW

"The Duets just get funnier and funnier!"

Anything You Can Do...! by Darlene Gardner is a delightfully funny read about an allegedly fixed cat show. It's up to Lane Brooks and her rival newspaper reporter Clay Crawford to get to the bottom of this scandal. Whoever investigates this story and writes the first and best story gets the job at SPLASH magazine! The problem here is Lane and Clay sort of have a history where they almost slept together on the beach. Can they work together and who will be the one to finally get the job?

Anchor That Man! by Dawn Atkins is the story of Renata Rose. All she ever wanted was stability in her life and to be a psychologist so she could help people get their lives together. When her boyfriend dumps her, the television program she hosts where she tries to help couples work through their problems starts to bomb. Then Hawk Hunter is hired to co-host. While Renata is attracted to Hawk, she doesn't want another broken heart. All Hawk wants is for Renata to loosen up. Will they make the show a success or will it fail?

Both of these stories had laugh out loud moments. While the hero and heroine in both stories were at odds and in competition with each other, they were still very much attracted to each other. The fun part was how each author handled the competition and the attraction. That made for some great and funny scenes. I eagerly look forward to the Duets each month!

Summary

ANYTHING YOU CAN DO...
Darlene Gardner

If you get cozy with the competition, you might as well sit down in a barca lounger.

Lane Brooks's football-coach father wasn't talking about Clay Crawford when he coined the saying, but no way is Lane going to let Clay convince her that they can be lovers as well as competitors.

Never mind the romantic, sexy night they shared before Lane realized Clay was her counterpart on a competing newspaper. Giving in to her attraction would surely kill her competitive edge.

The competition gets hotter when Lane and Clay find themselves not only vying for the same magazine job during a weekend on the cat-show circuit but staying in adjoining hotel rooms.

The investigative reporter who turns in a story exposing cat-show corruption will win the job, but can Clay convince Lane that there are more important things in life than getting the story?
