REVIEW

"History and Inspiration come together!"

After the break up of her engagement, Anna Strayer traveled to war torn Germany to visit her Aunt and Uncle. Upon finding them knee deep in the Underground movement, Anna joined them in saving as many lives as possible even though the consequences would be dire should she be caught by the Gestapo. At every turn, Lieutenant Ricard Von Heimer, of the Wertheim Gestapo turned up in Anna's path, issuing warnings to "stay home" and not buy her fish late at night. As the Lieutenant was a friend of the family, Anna was constantly seeing him at her Aunt and Uncle's home and soon found herself falling in love with the enemy...or was he?

As Anna became more and more involved in the underground, she also became more and more involved with Ricard. They soon found themselves prisoners of the Gestapo and guests in the death camps of Germany. Through the many trials and fears of Hitler's madness, Anna learned to call upon her trust and faith in God to pull not only herself through the evils surrounding her, but to guard those she came to love.

This book is a very well written account of faith outweighing the evil that surrounded Hitler's reign of terror. It is a book that is meant not only for those who love Inspirational Romance, but the history lover as well. Ms. Lopes has taken an era that is not covered often and opened wide the door to understanding those who stood to protect others at great peril to their own lives. Very well written and very much a must read!
