"This story will surprise you!"
Ben Jacobs accepts a position with the Bullion Police
Department because his canine partner, Czar is near
retirement age but Ben knows that Czar has more good years
left. After all they've been a team for nine years now. Ben isn't comfortable around the press but he reluctantly
allows Jill Martin to interview him and watch him put Czar
through his paces. What Ben doesn't understand is how Jill
and Czar seem to bond instantly. This is totally unlike
Czar. When Jill's story breaks the paper it's nothing like
how she wrote it. She can't figure out who is sabotaging
her. Ben is attracted to Jill but doesn't like the way she
showed him and Czar in a bad light even though she tries to
explain that the story is not what she wrote. Then an acquaintance of Jill's mysteriously disappears
taking with her some files that Jill has been investigating
that just so happen to involve Jill's sleazebag ex-husband
and new wife. Is there a correlation somewhere in all of
this? Then Jill and Czar are horrendously attacked and
left for dead. Something very eerie and strange happens
when they are both in limbo. What does this mean? Can they
figure out what's going on before it is too late for them
all? What I really liked about this book is even though it is a
Harlequin Superromance, there are some paranormal elements
to it. I also liked the fact that even though Czar the dog
is a police dog, he immediately loves Jill. Ben can't
understand this because Czar is well trained and even
though he doesn't blatantly disobey Ben when they are with
Jill, he turns to Jill for instructions also. This book had me in its grip from the very first page. I
eagerly devoured it and wanted more. This book has turned
me into a rabid Debra Salonen fan!

SummaryFor journalist Jill Martin things go from bad to worse when
she meets hunky K-9 cop Ben Jacobs. Yes, he's gorgeous, and
yes, his dog, Czar, greets her like a long, lost friend,
but Jill has this mystery to solve and an annoying ex-
husband to deal with and a missing friend-slash-source.
Oh, and there's the small matter of the attempt on her life
that left her in a coma. Jill does what anyone would do,
right? She calls on man's best friend for a little help.
