REVIEW

"Lucian's story!"

At last we get to read Lucien's story. As I expected, Lucian's story is very special. It is not for the faint of heart though! Jaxon, the heroine has had a very hard and complicated life. She's known lots of sorrow and pain. Because of this, she's a loner though she never wants to be. She feels as if she cannot get close to anyone because her demented step-father will only harm them to get to her. She just doesn't know what she's done in her life that was so bad for her to be punished in this way. If she did know, she'd surely do something to make it all right and especially to make it all go away.

When Lucian finally finds Jaxon, his lifemate, he cannot describe the happiness he feels. He's waited centuries for this one woman but all she wants to do is push him away. He is a typical Carpathian male but she's strong in her own rite. This tale of Lucian and Jaxon is a complicated one and fraught with danger. It only made me enjoy it all the more! My favorite part of the whole book is how tiny petite Jaxon wants to protect tall, strong, ancient Lucian. Lucian is amused by this fact because he's never had anyone want to protect him as fiercely as Jaxon does.

Lucian and Jaxon's story is every bit as enjoyable as I imagined it would be. My only problem is I cannot seem to read these books slowly to savor them. I read them much too quickly in order to find out what's happening in the next chapter and the next until I am surprised that I've reached the end of the book in short order. I now look forward to the next Dark book from the amazing and talented Christine Feehan!

Summary

Jaxon Montgomery is a woman hunted. Trained by the Special Forces, honed by a traumatic childhood, she is a policewoman with an undisputed reputation. She meets her match when she is set up to be murdered by an enemy. Hunted on all sides, she can only turn to the mysterious stranger who seems more dangerous than any other she has ever known.

He ran with the wolves?
Materialized from the mists?
Hijacked the very heavens to his whims?

He was the Dark Guardian of his people. So how, after centuries of bleak, soulless existence, had he suddenly come to crave petite, curvy, colorful lady cop Jaxon Montgomery, who foolishly made it her life?s work to protect others from harm?

Fiercely daring, Jaxx would sacrifice anything to shield others - particularly since a deadly menace dogged her every footstep, threatening all who got close to her. And strangely seductive, piercingly erotic, this stranger claiming her was no exception. He was powerfully, perilously mesmerizing-oddly gentle yet clearly a born predator. He had vowed to possess her, to guard her for all time. Yet with his every thirsty kiss, was he drawing Jaxon more deeply into danger?and his dark mysterious desires?
