REVIEW

"This one is such a fun read!"

This book just goes to show that two people from very different backgrounds CAN find happiness together even though they might have to take the long way around to do it.

Oliver Chancellor has his life all planned out. First he will be President of the bank that his ancestors founded one of these days even though a big conglomerate bought the bank from his father. Then of course he will marry the woman that he grew up with even though they have been more like sister and brother than anything. So when he sees Aurora St. Claire on Pearl Island when he's hammering in a "For Sale" sign on the property, he is definitely not ready for the fission of awareness that goes through him. He's had a crush on Rory forever but he's always been so geeky he knew that she'd never pay him any attention.

Aurora or Rory as she likes to be called has been bitter about having Pearl Island taken from her ancestors for a very long time so when she sees that it's for sale, she talks her brother and sister into getting together a proposal to buy it and turn it into a Bed and Breakfast. She talks Oliver Chancellor or Chance into helping them put the proposal together for his bank. Unbeknownst to Chance, she's had a crush on him for a long time also but she knows that Chance is too blue-blooded to even notice her or is he?

I had so much fun reading this book. Rory is such a fun character to read about. I especially liked the fact that while she's not perfect, she finds ways of getting around her small disabilities. While Chance is a geek, he's not a typical one. He overlooks Rory's imperfections and lets her know that she can do whatever she sets her mind to do. Not only that but the cast of secondary characters lets me know that there are more stories to be told here. I eagerly look forward to seeing what Julie Ortolon has in mind for Rory's siblings!

Summary

The forecast is smooth sailing for Oliver Chancellor, scion of Galveston's premier financier. Destined to take his place in the hallowed marble corridors of his family's bank, Chance is content with the future that's been mapped out for him, right down to his upcoming engagement to a prim debutante enthusiastically approved by his socialite mother. But when beautiful Rory St. Claire crosses his path, Chance recklessly plunges into uncharted territory with nothing but his heart to guide him-and a beautiful woman to tempt him... Propelled by a lifelong goal to buy the island home reportedly haunted by her colorful ancestors, Rory desperately needs Chance's help in securing a business loan, and she won't take no for an answer. In the midst of convincing the hesitant blue blood to take a chance on her dream, Rory unexpectedly lands in Chance's arms, stunned by his red-blooded passion-and her own awakened desire. Now, the mismatched pair can't keep their hands off one another, and something tells Rory she's headed for trouble-trouble in the name of love...
