"Secrets abound in this one!"
Abby Duncan has come home to Hope, Texas, first to
escape an abusive ex-husband and secondly to help Simon
Brewster write his memoirs. She has an ulterior motive for
helping Simon Brewster. First she wants to clear her
father's good name of the rumor that he embezzled from
Simon Brewster and was fired. Even though her father is
dead now, Abby only wants good memories of him to survive.
She figures she can cut a deal with Brewster. Brewster drives a hard bargain though and tells
Abby that he'll tell the truth about her father if she will
help him find his unacknowledged daughter. He tells her to
take his ranch foreman, Jonas Parker with her because her
search will lead her to Mexico to find Delores Alvarez.
But Abby has a long road to travel. It seems that someone
doesn't want her finding out this information. The mystery
is who this someone might be. It could be Simon's
relatives who don't want this long lost daughter found or
it could be some of his ex-workers who have a grudge
against him. What Abby also doesn't bargain for is her strong
attraction for Jonas but Jonas feels that he's just not
good enough for Abby. He comes from an abusive background
and knows that Abby had an abusive husband. Jonas is
worried that he may be an abusive person too even though
there's never been an indication that he could ever raise a
hand to anyone. What I really like about the Superromances now is
that they have an element of mystery to them. Mysteries
are my second love and I've been thoroughly enjoying the
Superromances that I've read lately. Linda Warren has
written a book that has kept me turning pages. I thought I
had the mystery figured out but there were a couple of
surprises that threw me for a loop. I like that in a
book! I will be looking for more books by Linda Warren!

SummaryShe's made a deal with the devil?
Abby Duncan's come home to Hope, Texas - the town known as
Brewster's Valley after the wealthy, powerful old man who
rules it - to find the truth behind the accusations that
drove her father to his death. Only Brewster knows what
really happened and he refuses to tell Abby unless she
agrees to find his missing daughter - the child he's never
acknowledged.
And part of Brewster's deal is that Abby undertake this
search with the help of Jonas Parker, foreman of Brewster's
farming empire. Jonas knows only too well that the truth
may not be what Abby expects. But neither of them can
anticipate the secrets they're about to uncover. Secrets
that threaten to shatter everything they've ever believed
about themselves -- and each other.
