REVIEW

"I laughed one minute and cried the next reading this one!"

Sandra Hill has been on my auto-buy author's list for years. Every book and every novella that she's ever written resides on my keeper bookcase. I cannot say enough about how much each and every one of her books has brought me hours of enjoyment. With that said, I will admit that Sandra Hill has done it yet again with this book.

This is the story of Rurik the Viking. Even though characters from preceding books show up, this is a totally stand-alone book although I believe it is all the more enjoyable for having read the previous books. Rurik is very concerned about his appearance and all the more so after Maire somehow tattooed a blue zig-zag down the middle of his face five years ago after a night of passionate loving.

Now Rurik has spent these last five years combing Scotland in search of Maire so she will take the blue streak off of his face. Little does Rurik know what he's getting into in taking on this mission of looking for Maire. Oh he finds her all right but there much more to this story!

I found myself laughing one minute and crying the next over this divine story! Rurik is such a fastidious man and to have to live with this blue streak and to be teased about it for five long years is almost more than he can take. His men do nothing but remind him about it through the whole book. But Maire is not to be taken lightly. She may be a failure as a witch with her spells going awry every time she tries to cast them but she has a good heart and only wants what is best for her people. There are some scenes in this book that just had me laughing myself silly but there are also some very serious scenes where I reached for the Kleenex box. I highly recommend this one!
