Ripley Logan was a secretary for six long years when the company was bought out and downsized. She took her severance pay and decided it was time to change careers. Her best friend is homeless ex-private investigator Nelson Polk. He tells her such interesting stories that she decides that's just what she wants to do.

Her first case sends her to Memphis, Tennessee to search for Clarise Bennett's sister Nicole. After a particularly rough day searching for Nicole, she soaks in a bubble bath when someone breaks into her hotel room. She sneaks out onto the balcony, jumps across to the balcony next to her and goes into the next hotel room.

Joe Pruitt, owner of a shoe company cannot believe a naked woman is crawling into his bed and kissing him senseless. He thinks she's been sent by his cronies to show him a good time. Boy is he ever wrong! When he finally gets the complete story out of Ripley, he just doesn't know what to think! Ripley isn't like anyone he's ever met and he's extremely attracted to her.

Ripley is such a sincere person and so wants to put some pizzazz in her life. She feels like she's been so boring for so long. Joe is just hot! He really makes her sizzle but they are totally different and are complete strangers. Their confrontations are so volatile that they generally wind up in bed. Neither wants to admit anything more than lust for each other. Ripley is bound and determined to be the best private investigator she can and Joe is a workaholic. His company hasn't grown as big as it has by him slacking off.

I read this book in one sitting. The action (both in and out of bed) was incredible. There is just one action packed scene after another. I tuned everything out and just avidly devoured this book. It is highly recommended!
