"Book three a disappointment"
The third and final book of his Frankenstein
series, "Dead and Alive" has received mostly negative or
lukewarm reviews from those who read and enjoyed the first
two novels ("Prodigal Son" and "City of Night"). The
average rating the novel received on goodreads.com from
108
readers was a 3.6 out of five possible points. Readers, having waited four years for Koontz to
complete the trilogy set in New Orleans, were by mostly
disappointed by this final, updated installment of the
famous classic. Adjectives
like "superficial", "underwhelming", "disappointing", "poi
n
tless", "boring", and "predictable" were used to describe
the novel by quite a few individuals, including those who
gave the book a 3 rating. With Victor Helios' "creations" spinning out of
control at the same time as a devastating hurricane
approaches the Crescent City, you have an interesting
backdrop for this final confrontation between the damned
creature (Deucalion) and his mad creator. But,
unfortunately, the story fizzles, unlike the storm that
races in from the Gulf!
