REVIEW

"The Rocker and the Cop and...."

Ok, deep breath. Better.

The sexual activity is very raw and aggressive and it definitely pushed my comfort level. That being said, a disclaimer is needed for anyone choosing to read this book. Laid Bare, by Lauren Dane, contains explicit sex, graphic language, male/male action, and some bondage. Truth be told, this is not the style of read I would normally finish. This tale was definitely an exception to the rule. It had a lot more story to it than I was expecting. It held my attention as it started off with a bang (no pun intended)and barely let up.

Ten years ago Seattle police officer Todd Keenan had a hot fling with Erin Brown, the wild rocker chick next door. She's beautiful and free-spirited, he's rather straight laced. Their exchange in the bedroom was beyond what either expected but love just wasn't in the cards at that point in time. Her went his way, she went hers.

Life circumstances have now thrown them back together and, due to a painful event from Erin's past, it is difficult to pick up where they left off. Erin has made it big in the music industry but she has also had a major devastating heartbreak of the kind many people don't get over. Todd is also back in Seattle after a bad marriage and after suffering a career ending injury. When they unexpectedly meet, the spark is still there. Even after 10 years. And when I say spark, I mean spark. Add in Todd's friend, Ben, into their bedroom and, well, you know where this is going.

I really enjoyed Erin's character. She was strong, freaky, and didn't shy away from who she was. There's just something about a chick with attitude and self- assuredness that I love. This book was not a story where everything was perfect with a happy ending. Life is not perfect. There is laughter as well as tears and Ms. Dane did an excellent job. She brought the characters to life and if you don't mind the erotic elements to the relationship, I would recommend stepping out of the box and reading Laid Bare.

Summary

Unexpected Desire...

It's been ten years since clean-cut, sexy-as-hell police officer Todd Keenan had a white-hot fling with Erin Brown, the provocative, wild rocker chick next door. Their power exchange in the bedroom got under his skin. But love wasn't in the cards just yet...

Now, life has thrown the pair back together. But picking up where they left off is tough, in light of a painful event from Erin's past. As Todd struggles to earn her trust, their relationship takes an unexpected and exciting turn when Todd's best friend, Ben, ends up in their bed—and all three are quite satisfied in this relationship without a name. As the passion they share transforms Erin, will it be enough to help her face the evil she thought she had left behind?
