"Another historical suspense yarn from Robert Goddard."
When Tim Harding agrees to represent a friend at an
auction of an antique ring, he expects it will be a quick
assignment. Of course, Tim is unaware of the fact the ring
is shrouded in mystery and linked to a series of
tragedies. Said to have been removed from the finger of a
drowned British naval commander in 1707, the ring's
history
dates back farther in time to the era of the Black Death
and the mysterious legend of the Grey Man of Ennor. When Harding arrives in the town of Cromwell he
also encounters Hayley Mills, a woman who bears an uncanny
resemblance to another woman who reputedly died a decade
earlier in an accident. Hayley's disappearance, coupled
with some other odd occurrences, launches Harding
on an investigation to uncover the true story of the ring
and its remarkable history. Robert Goddard has been praised for his elegant
and
intelligent novels. The British writer's acumen and
storytelling ability have landed his mysteries on the
bestseller lists and earned him multiple nominations for
England's Booker Prize. If you haven't discovered this
talented writer yet, "Name to a Face" will provide an
excellent introduction to his body of work.
