REVIEW

"Adrenalin rushing suspense!"

Dee Davis knows just how to hook a reader right from the very beginning of a story. This book is no exception. It grabbed me right from the prologue and didn't let go until the very last word in the epilogue!

Riley O'Brien has been right there for her father thorough thick and thin. She was very young when her older sister died in a tragic accident. Her mother died of a broken heart soon afterwards. Now her father is planning to run for President so Riley is doing everything she can to get him elected. When unexplained accidents start happening around Riley, she doesn't know what to think. It seems as if there's no connection but for some reason investigative reporter Jake Mahoney turns up every time something strange happens.

When Jake and Riley decide to dig just a little further, they seem to stir up a hornet's nest but who has something to hide and what is it? The closer they get to the truth the more dangerous it becomes. Jake and Riley also seem to be fighting a strong attraction for each other. Jake is warned off Riley numerous times but he can't seem to get her out of his mind or stay away from her. Riley does her best to try to stay away from Jake too but there's just something about him that just draws her like prey to a snake. Will they be able to solve this mystery to their satisfaction?

I simply could not put this book down. I felt as if I were on an adrenalin rush from the beginning to the very end. The action never let up. For fans of romantic suspense (with emphasis on the suspense), this one is a must read.

Summary

When she was only eight years old, Riley O'Brien survived the unimaginable: the deaths of her mother and sister. As a result she vowed never to desert her father, a brilliant young congressman whose star was on the rise. Now, twenty- one years later, after trading her dreams of a normal life for his ambitions, Riley stands by her father's side as he makes a bid for the presidency. Growing up in the political spotlight, she has become an expert at hiding her feelings behind the surface of her regal beauty. But her defenses are about to be shattered.

Investigative reporter Jake Mahoney resents wasting his time covering an ice princess at a presidential campaign rally. But when a car bomb throws him--literally--on top of the candidate's daughter, Jake quickly realizes that Riley O'Brien is pure fire. No one has ever gotten under his skin like this before. Their attraction is instant, and possibly fatal, as dangerous secrets from the past explode into the present, destroying one life after another in a nightmare of blind ambition...
