"Funny, rocky road to sweet romance!"
Jackie Barrett is one organized scientist. She has a list
for everything and always checks it twice. Getting dumped
by her boyfriend via e-mail was not on her list of things
to do before her romantic vacation. Not only was she stuck
with a nonrefundable plane ticket, she also finds out her
competition for a million-dollar grant will be at the same
resort. She has to make sure that Reade Hunter doesn't do
anything underhanded to get Farley Phelps to give him the
grant. Reade Hunter is determined to get the grant and find
something to fill his mother's time. Since his father's
sudden death his mother Lenore will not let him out of her
sight. Every time he tries to do anything she feels is
dangerous she has a fit of the vapors. Reade will make sure
that Jacqueline Barrett doesn't have a chance to use her
womanly charms to get Farley to give her the grant. I really enjoyed this story. The author really did a good
job of making me care about the characters. They all had
baggage to unload on their road to self-discovery. And I
must say that road was a rocky one. I enjoyed the heat
between Jackie and Reade but felt the cat and mouse game
they played went just a bit too long. Lenore and Farley had
their own story going and I found myself wanted to read
more about them. I was wishing for a sequel even before the
book ended. If you love to laugh and cry this is the book for you. You
might want to read this one at home. That way you will
avoid all the funny looks I got while reading this book at
work. Helena L Beasley
