"Another one of Karen White's emotional books! A joy to read!"
Karen White knows just how to tug at your heart strings
and she does it beautifully with every story that she
writes. All I want to do after I read her amazing stories
is hug the book to my chest and revel in the emotions that
she has evoked from the deepest part of my inner being. This is the story of Brenna O'Brien. She collects old
letters that are unopened and saves them in scrapbooks.
She also writes about what she thinks are in those
letters. She tries to keep the old theater going as this
is where she has her best memories growing up. Brenna has never been the same since Pierce McGovern left
without a word and never came back. Brenna's mother died
when she was a young child and her older sisters helped to
raise her. What Brenna doesn't know is there is so much
more to this story than she can even begin to imagine. One thing is Pierce comes back to town to help his father,
Dr. McGovern to close up his home and move into a
retirement home. The other thing is that when the old post
office is torn down, there is a huge box of unopened
letters that come to light and are addressed to Dr.
McGovern. Dr. McGovern decides that he wants Brenna to
come to his house and read the letters to him. This
reveals more of the mystery but will the mystery ever be
solved? As much as I've enjoyed Karen White's books, I seem to
enjoy each succeeding one even more. As always I eagerly
await the next one!

SummaryBrenna O'Brien doesn't believe in happy endings. Not since
the love of her life, Pierce McGovern, left her years ago
without a word. Now, she leads a quiet life surrounded by
her four matchmaking sisters, running a historic movie
theater and collecting old wartime letters. But she leaves
the letters unopened, preferring to imagine their
possibilities rather than risk being disappointed.
Then Pierce comes back to town, shattering Brenna's
hard-earned peaceand forcing her to re-examine
everything, and realize that if she doesn't come to terms
with the life she let slip away, she may never have the
courage to go after the life she wants.
