"Hilarious!"
Michele Bardsley has a wicked sense of humor and it
definitely shows in this book! I had a blast reading this
hilarious and mysterious vampire novel. Jessica Matthews lived as normal a life as she could as a
widow with two children in Broken Heart, Oklahoma when one
night while taking out the garbage, she was viciously
attacked by a huge hairy beast and killed. When she woke
up, she was latched onto a gorgeous hunk's equally
gorgeous thigh sucking his......blood. And this is just the
beginning for Jessica! Not only has she been turned into a vampire but quite a
few of the other residents have as well and when they get
the whole story, they don't know what to think. All
Jessica is worried about is her children, Bryan and Jenny.
Patrick, O'Halloran, the man who keeps letting her have
his blood assures her that her children are being taken
care of very well and that there are bigger fish to fry,
if you will. The problem is Patrick isn't telling Jessica the whole
story. He keeps hinting at things and as the story
progresses, he gives out information little by little. Oh,
and what a story we get! Even Jessica can't believe what
is happening! All she knows is she is so attracted to
Patrick but it's all about her kids. They have to come
first! Will it all work out? I thoroughly enjoyed Michele Bardsley's foray into the
vampire world and I sincerely hope she will see fit to
visit Broken Heart in more books!

SummaryDoes drinking blood make me a bad mother?
Broken Heart is the city with the highest rate of divorce
and highest percentage of single parents in Oklahoma. And I,
Jessica Matthews, have been a member of that club ever since
my husband dumped me for his twentysomething secretary and
then had the gall to die in a car accident.
Now I'm not just a single mother trying to make ends meet in
this crazy world....I'm also a vampire. One minute I was
taking out the garbage; the next I awoke sucking on the
thigh of superhot vampire Patrick O'Halloran, who'd
generously offered his femoral artery to save me.
But though my stretch marks have disappeared and my vision
has improved, I can't rest until the thing that did this to
me is caught. My kids' future is at stake...figuratively and
literally. As is my sex life. Although I wouldn't mind
finding myself attached to Patrick's juicy thigh again, I
learned that once a vampire does the dirty deed, it hitches
her to the object of her affection for at least one hundred
years. I just don't know if I'm ready for that kind of
commitment....
