"A humorous fairy-tale world peopled with gargoyles, demons, trolls, and fairies."
The dark lord Damen orders the wizard Venedictos to bring
him an angel. Damen wishes to bring an end to his curse of
living in the light and seducing an angel will do that. Ever since his brother was killed while in the Merchant
Marines, Alex Gordon has made sure to take the safe paths
of life. Devon, the love of his life (though she doesn't
know it), prefers a little adventure in hers. So when
Devon goes fairy hunting and disappears into a fairy ring,
Alex knows he has no choice but to follow her. That's how
Devon ends up in the clutches of Venedictos who, quite
unable to deliver a real angel to Damen, thinks that Devon
may just fulfill the purpose nicely. As for Alex, he finds
himself on an adventure he never wanted in a world he never
would have imagined, where things are a bit more
complicated than they first appear. Crafting scenes out of words is something the author does
very well. Brought to the mind's eye is a fairy-tale world
peopled with gargoyles, demons, trolls, and, of course,
fairies. Even though the hero and heroine spend most of the
book apart, about equal time is spent with each. Evil,
ugly, and disgusting as the villain is, there is still a
tendency to rather like him. All the characters are well-
formed within the parameters of the story and there is even
quite a bit of humor to keep this from being too dark. I
recommend this one for all who enjoy a good fairy tale. Personal comments: Little things do tend to get to me
sometimes, in this case where the sun is referred to as a
planet and the fact that the villain's name and the
heroine's name are so much alike. Sensuality--No sex, very little discussion of it. Not
sensual.
