"Simply hilarious!"
This delightfully funny romance takes two scientists
and pits them against each other in a race to see who will
receive the million-dollar grant. Doctors Jackie Barrett
and Reade Hunter go to great lengths to try and outdo each
other to impress Farley Phelps, thus insuring the prize of
the grant awarded to one or the other. Jackie has two strikes against her. Her boyfriend
breaks up with her via voice mail just before the trip to
Runaway Bay for a long needed vacation and her luggage is
lost after she finally gets to Runaway Bay. Jackie isn't
exactly the picture-perfect model and has a hard time being
fitted so what in the world is she to do until her luggage
finally catches up to her? Reade brings his mother, Lenore along on the trip
because he's been taking care of her since his father died
suddenly of a heart attack. Since then his mother has felt
like she's needed someone to look after her and when Reade
even thinks about doing something the least bit dangerous
she has panic attacks. Jackie and Reade hate each other at first sight but
this fact changes as they get to know one another. The
problem is they aren't sure what they should do about this
attraction. Farley does everything he can to throw them
together as he has a hidden agenda going on in the
background that only he knows about. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Tears of laughter
and sadness were constantly flowing. I was pulling for
Jackie and Reade through the whole book. I was just amazed
at all the scrapes they managed to get into and out of.
Farley, and Reade's mother Lenore also figured prominently
in the whole book. I hope that Lisa Hendrix has more of
these hilarious comedies up her sleeve. I know I, for one,
will be on the lookout for more!
