"What would it be like to suddenly be King?"
TALL DARK & ROYAL is the first book in a mini-series about
the Connellys of Chicago. The hero is Daniel Connelly who
has learned that due to the deaths of his maternal
grandfather and uncle, he has inherited the throne to a
small island country named Altaria. Daniel has been helping
to run the family corporation, so he knows how to take
charge, and he has always felt there must be something more
out there for him. Erin Lawrence has been sent to Chicago by her father, the
foreign minister of Altaria to serve as palace liaison and
to teach the new king proper palace etiquette before he is
introduced to Altarian society. Her real task, however, is
to discourage Daniel from even accepting the throne, since
her father does not think he will be a suitable king. I enjoyed reading this book, but I felt that the plot
encompassed too large of a scope for the short format of a
Silhouette Desire. I liked the story line and the
characters, but while reading I was aware that in order to
fit everything into these few pages the author had to resort
to a lot of skimming over of details that would have filled
out the story nicely in a longer book. The love scenes were
well written, I just wished that I had more of a 'feel' for
their personalities that can only be obtained by a more in
depth portrayal of thoughts and emotions. I didn't feel that
I got to know Erin and Daniel well enough (nor they each
other) to believe in the attraction and eventually love they
felt for one another.

SummaryProper and polished Erin Lawrence had been sent to teach
gorgeous Daniel Connelly all about royal protocol before he
assumed the throne of Altaria. But Daniel had a lesson or
two to teach Erin about chemistry?and love!
