REVIEW

"A fabulous continuation to the Skye O'Malley legacy!"

This is the story of Patrick Leslie, son of Jasmine Leslie, granddaughter to the infamous Skye O'Malley. Jasmine's beloved husband Jemmie Leslie was killed during the Cromwell reign. Jasmine is so heartbroken that she decides to leave Glenkirk and travel with her youngest daughter to their family in France. She tells Patrick it's past time for him to find a wife and give her some grandchildren.

Patrick knows of no eligible young ladies he can marry or even court. One day when he and his men go out hunting he stumbles upon a young woman who has fiery red hair and a temper to match, at a run-down castle on lands that border his lands. When he finds out she's Flanna Brodie, he decides to take her back to her father and offer to buy the land from him. Flanna's father surprises Patrick when he tells him that he may have the land if he marries Flanna. Patrick is surprised but since he needs a wife he agrees. Flanna, of course, is furious. She doesn't want a husband cramping her style but a husband she gets. Will she and Patrick suit or will this just be a marriage of convenience?

I have enjoyed Bertrice Small's books since I read SKYE O'MALLEY years ago. To me, continuing stories about Madame Skye's children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren keeps Skye's legacy alive. Stories in a series where I get to visit recurring characters are my favorite kinds of books to read. The characters just come alive for me and live in my head throughout the whole book and the whole series. For fans of Bertrice Small and her O'Malley series, this one is not to be missed.
