"Passion Under the Falls!"

Lady Rebecca Gildersleeve or "Becca" is determined to escape her father's nefarious plot to marry her off to a repulsive nobleman! So she and her maid are petrefied and then frustrated when a storm causes her coach to crash, killing the driver, leaving her and her maid teetering on the edge of death, and needing to be rescued by the suave, lordly Count Klaus Lindegren. Both are immediately, attracted to each other but their separate agendas initially stave off satisfaction! That doesn't mean, however, that both can ignore the sensual, steamy memories both carry from what Klaus creates by invading her imagination with his lusty seduction of her mind and body.

Lady Rebecca is forced to reveal that her father has arranged her to marry in order to pay off a gambling debt that will otherwise ruin him for life. Coupled with his growing feelings for the Lady, Klaus is repulsed by this scenario and vows to protect her. Her initial gratitude turns to suspicion and then horror when she realizes that her sense of something quite unnatural prevails in the sanctuary where Klaus shelters her. Her early fears are confirmed when she hears a conversation that only confirms that the mythological "tales" Klaus has told her about the Norse Fossegrim are very, very real.

Fleeing again, she is captured by her father, and Klaus is determined to save her again. For she would fit so well into his mission to mate with a human. Yet he senses she could actually be more than that, a beautiful, erotic lover who could give him a content human destiny, if he chooses to lose his "fey" status!

Klaus sets off to pursue Becca while at the same time knowing he needs to periodically submerge himself in any nearby waterfall in order not to lose his fey powers. Add to the plot a jealous, scorned, but powerful fairy-like sprite determined to destroy Becca and punish Klaus' betrayal.

Summary

Lady Rebecca's life changed forever in the blink of an eye. One moment she was fleeing her father across a storm- swept Bodmin Moor, in the next, her carriage overturned on a steep gorge. But she did not die. Somehow, she was pulled clear. There was an eerie luminosity about her savior, a fluid silver aura like the lightning filling the night sky. And while his voice was deep, mellow— comforting, like the music of the waterfall he haunted, it, too, held a hint of the Otherworldly. Who was this strange savior, this displaced foreign nobleman? Everything about the Count was an enigma. Becca had heard myths of the Fossegrim: creatures that traveled between the astral and the physical planes through waterfalls, driven to find ecstasy with human women then vanish forever. From their world, humans never returned. This man, Becca was willing to follow.
