REVIEW

"Second Book of an Epic Fantasy"

Again we are transported to the fantasy world where the forces of nature take physical form and are harnessed by humans. Civil war is threatening the realm. An if that isn't enough an ancient menace has been awakened and is out to take over the planet and kill all the humans. Tavi alone with his friends must face this ancient menace, save the planet and keep civil war from happening. A tall order for someone like Tavi. Tavi doesn't have any powers over the forces of nature. He must depend only on his mind and being clever. The First Lord has fallen ill and no one can know he can't preform his duties. It is up to Tavi and the First Lords private guard to protect him and keep his illness secret. In this action packed sequel we learn even more about Tavi's parentage and meet new friends and keep up with old ones. Enjoy the evolution of a growing boy that seems to have a lot of responsibility on his young shoulders. An enjoyable read. I can't wait for the next installment of Tavi's adventures and to find more of the puzzle pieces to Tavi's parentage and why he has been singled out by the First Lord.

Summary

For one thousand years, the people of Alera have united against the aggressive and threatening races that inhabit the world, using their unique bond with the Furies—elementals of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Metal. But now, the unity of the Alerians hangs in precarious balance. The First Lord of Alera has fallen in his efforts to protect his people from the vicious attacks of their enemies. Now, the fate of the Alerians lies in the hands of Tavi, a young man who must use all of his courage and resourcefulness to save his people—and himself.
