"A delightful trip back in time"
When you're a thirteen year old girl, life is tough in the
best of times. But when your world is turned upside down
on
nearly a daily basis, then its really hard.
Layla Jay is experiencing life's good times and bad as she
grows up in rural Mississippi in the early 1960s. She and
her mama live with her mother's parents, where Layla
learns
to love Jesus means acceptance, and when you got the
blues,
nothing cures them better than a hot fudge sundae.
Layla's mother is a dissatified women who is looking for
the right man to set her world straight. Unfortunately,
she
chooses Mr. Wrong, and the consequences of that choice
will
affect everyone in the family.
Bev Marshall portrays the life of a young Southern girl to
a T in her latest novel, "Hot Fudge Sundae Blues." You can
almost feel the humidity in the air, and smell the sweet
magnolia blossoms as you turn the pages of this entralling
story.
