"A continuation of a delightful series"
In the seventeenth book in her "Alpine" series, Mary
Daheim
once again treats her fans to another captivating mystery
filled with the beloved characters from her previous
novels, as well as a few new folks.
Emma Lord, newspaper publisher extraordinare, is thrilled
to have her brother, the Father (he's a priest) in town as
he is serving as a subsitute in the town's parish. But
when
a visitor, Genevieve Bayard, dies in the parsonage, it's
up
to Emma to find out who-dun-it! Emma turns to her usual cohort in sleuthing, Vida Runkel,
to help her put all the pieces together, but is shocked to
find out that Vida isn't at all sorry that Genevieve has
died. Mystified by this unusual attitude, Emma soon finds
out that quilting, and sharing patterns isn't the sweet,
benign hobby that most people think it is, in fact, it's
downright nasty at times. Mary Daheim spins a fascinating mystery with "The Alpine
Quilt," much to the delight of her long-time fans.
However,
if this is the first book you've picked up in this series,
you can pick up quickly on the quirky, interesting
characters that make up the town of Alpine, Washington.
Prepare to enjoy yourselves with this charming novel.
