"A hot romance and a mystery!"
Rhiannon O'Brannoch is at her wits' end. The
airplane ticket her Uncle Fitz gave her came at just the
right time, especially when she found out that her father
left the family farm in Ireland to his relatives instead
of her. So off she sets for America and Irish Heaven
ranch. She spends her last bit of money to rent a car but
on the way to the ranch, she nearly runs over a downed
cow. When she swerves off the road, she gets stuck and
when she checks the cow out, it's been horribly mutilated.
Then a very big angry man rides up on his horse and
started hollering at her. What is this all about? When Rhiannon gets it all sorted out, she meets
Redhawk Jackson, her Uncle Fitz's ranch foreman and she
finds out that he had no idea that she was even coming.
What else has her uncle kept from her and from Redhawk?
Redhawk tells Rhiannon that even though the ranch is worth
lots of money, they have no cash for help and their cattle
are systematically being rustled right out from under
their noses. He also tells her that her uncle has
Alzheimer's disease and it will only get worse. Rhiannon
realizes this when Fitz keeps calling her Janet, her
mother's name. She has to constantly remind Fitz that
Janet is dead now. Rhiannon knows she has no way and no money to get
back to Ireland so she decides the only thing to do is
help Hawk and Fitz any way she can. Fitz has another plan
in mind. If only he can get Rhiannon and Hawk to see that
they were made for each other, he'd be one happy fellow!
Still there is the mystery of why the cattle are
disappearing. Can they figure it out before they run out
of time and money? I was on the edge of my seat not only with the
mystery but also with the sizzling attraction between
Rhiannon and Hawk. Nina Bruhns told one heck of a tale
that kept me zipping through this book at light speed.
Now I'm ready for another one of her tales!
