Homicide detective Jane Rizzoli is a week over due to
deliver her first child and she is on the stand
testifying. When her water breaks after a slight
confrontation with the defendant, she is taken to the
hospital. Where she and five other people are taken
hostage. Gabriel Dean, Jane's husband, is beside himself with worry

Maura Isles, Boston's medical examiner and close friend of
Jane, finds one of her dead bodies is not so dead.
Five women are brutally murdered in a secluded house in
the woods. Federal agents show up on the scene and Home
Land Security gets involved.
