"Terrific Romantic Suspense"
Traditionally an author of historical romances, Ms.
Potter's venture into modern romances once again is a
triumph. With the versatility of a truly gifted author,
she has made the transition with a practiced ease that
leaves the reader eagerly anticipating her next novel. Disappointed in a recent newspaper article that linked
her grandfather, General David Mallory, to the
disappearance of looted Nazi riches, Professor Amy Mallory
didn't really give the story much more thought. That is,
until her house is burned to the ground, a fellow college
professor is run down, and she is shot outside her
colleague's office. When Colonel "Irish" Flaherty locates
Amy in Memphis, he is on a mission of his own-his
grandfather, General Sam Flaherty was also implicated in
the theft of the WWII Jewish treasures, and Irish sets out
to prove his innocence. Amy is wary of Irish when she first meets him. As
a loner, Amy has always relied ultimately on herself, first
as the daughter of a flower child mother, and later as an
orphaned eighteen-year-old when her grandfather committed
suicide. Finding herself on the run from unknown
assailants, Amy must face the fact that Irish has followed
her and appears to be the only one that she can trust, as
he thwarts another attempt on her life. Though their
attraction begins as life affirming passion, it develops
into a greater emotion, drawing together people with very
different backgrounds and beliefs. As Amy and Irish journey across the Mid-Atlantic with
her dog Bo, danger lurks around every corner, and their
will to survive against some tremendous odds becomes
paramount. Suspense and mystery abound, as they discover
another WWII general's grandchild, Dustin Eachan, a State
Department official, could be in danger also. What is the
link between the three now deceased generals? And what
information does Amy posses from her grandfather's notes
that may have put her life in peril? With the perfect combination of suspense and romance,
Ms. Potter's latest is a masterpiece. Believable
characters, intense attraction, and a fast moving plot
combine to make this an intelligent read to be savored
again and again.
