REVIEW

"Viking Passion"

Mercenary soldiers are wreaking havoc on Viking Eadred's home, pillaging and burning anything that may not be taken. Eardred seems an unusual man who doesn't understand the need for the torture, rape and playing with weakness that follows such battles. But before he can do anything about it, he himself becomes ill and receives a "touch" into what feels like "death" experience.

Eardred wakes up into the new world of present-day Boston and obviously is traumatized by the change. The government discovers his presence and believes that there is something strange and dangerous about this man who bears a tattoo remarkably similar to a government secret. Portland Ellis, a language specialist, is the bridge between Eardred and this new world that is both fascinating and threatening.

Protective and sensitive, Portland begins to have sympathetic and caring feelings for this handsome warrior who is blatantly honest about what he perceives to be both pleasurable and horrific about this contemporary American world. Indeed, they begin to care for each other after some rather dangerous scenes occur.

For Portland is being stalked by an abusive, sick man and Eardred reacts with violence to any provocation by insensitive, manipulative government agents.

Kate Hill portrays a time travel story with sensitivity and grace, without losing the punch needed for a successful "time-travel" mystery. Indeed Rediscovering Thor portrays the nuances of a past mourned and a present unfolding that is both credible and engaging!

Beautifully told!

Summary

In the midst of battle, Viking warrior Eadred is abducted by aliens and preserved for over a thousand years. He awakens in a hospital in modern day Boston, completely alone in a wondrous yet terrifying world. Language expert Portland Ellis jumps at the chance to act as interpreter for a man who has supposedly existed since the Viking age. Passion is the last thing on her mind, yet she and the handsome warrior are instantly attracted to one another. Eadred and Portland enter a reluctant romance in which their love is tested by his grief over his lost family, her link to an abusive stalker, and government agents sworn to keep Eadred's alien ties a secret.
