REVIEW

"The Price of Fame"

As promised by Karen Kingsbury at the end of the Baxter Family series, the first spin off is now in stores! FAME continues with the life of Dayne Matthews, whom we found out was the son of John and Elizabeth Baxter given up years before they started the rest of their family. Dayne was able to meet Elizabeth before she passed away, however his existence is still a secret to the Baxter family.

Dayne is now back in Hollywood beginning work on a new movie and helping to find the perfect actress for the role opposite him. However no matter how many famous names come across the stage, only one comes to mind as perfect for the role -- Katy Hart. Dayne had met Katy during his brief visit to Bloomington where she works at a Christian children's theatre.

That same theatre is where Katy still spends most of her days as she is preparing for a production of Tom Sawyer. However can Dayne, the man she met only once and the lure of Hollywood be enough to pull her away?

Once Katy goes to California to try out for the role, she is immersed in a world entirely different from the wholesomeness she is used to. Before she can truly grasp the idea that there really is no place like home, her and Dayne's lives will both be put in danger by a crazed stalker.

This new book only allows us brief glimpses into the lives of the rest of the Brewster clan, which was a bit of a disappointment to me. I was hoping for a little bit more of an update on each family member. Being a small town girl myself I also enjoyed the parts of the book that took place in Baxter instead of in California. I am anxiously awaiting the next book to see what Kingsbury has in store for her legion of fans.
