REVIEW

"A charming anthology"

Attic Treasures leads us into the lives of the granddaughters of Lydia Dunmore. Lydia has moved into a retirement facility and is selling her home. She has asked each of her granddaughters to make a trip to Wyoming and pick one item from her attic that they would like to keep. This simple request produces four stories told by some of inspirational's finest authors.

Wanda E. Brunstetter has been a favorite author of mine for some time and her story in this anthology Grandma's Doll keeps with that tradition. Sheila knows exactly what item she will pick from grandma's attic when she leaves California and heads to Casper. After all, as a child not only did she spend precious hours playing with the doll, she also took it upon herself to write her name on the doll's body! Sheila is in for a shocking surprise when she arrives and finds that the doll has been sold to an antiques dealer. Dwaine, the new owner of the local antiques shop is more than willing to go out of his way to help Sheila find the lost doll. Will they also happen to find romance along the way?

Tammy Shuttlesworth story Fishing For Loveis guaranteed to bring a smile if not a chuckle to the reader. Kimber had no idea what she would choose from the attic when she arrived, however amidst the dusty boxes, she will find the most unlikely treasure. Her grandfather's tackle boxes, which bring back so many wonderful memories for her. Upon returning home, her friend will put her in contact with the local tackle shop owner who might know the true worth of the lures she brought home. Kimber is a bit leery about asking Jake for help as she well remembers their last embarrassing encounter at church. However, quickly Kimber and Jake begin spending every spare moment together not only in their quest to discover information about the lures but simply because their love of the outdoors makes them a perfect match!

Janet Spaeth's story is THE PRAIRIEand tells the story of Lauren who also has a good idea of which item she wants from the attic. She has always remembered and loved the christening gown worn by her great grandmother. Although Lauren and her husband are both career driven city folks with no plans for a family, they will soon discover another side to themselves as they make the trip to Wyoming. Can an old farmhouse; a car full of kittens and a christening gown change their plans forever?

The weaker story of the group for me was the final story by Pamela Kaye Tracy Seeking The Lost, which tells the story of Jessica and her love for an antique dresser that she plans to claim. As her and her snotty boyfriend are moving the dresser from the house, Jessica will discover some old papers that will reveal some painful secrets about her own life. Her story will take her on a journey to discover the truth. Along the way, she may even find her own romance.
