"An absolutely fascinating take on Vampires!"
Susan Squires can delve into any time period and
weave an incredible story. This time she has taken the
Regency time period and combined it with vampires of all
things. I was totally mesmerized. I was so mesmerized I
really didn't want this story to end! Ian George Angleston Rufford has something
terrible wrong with him. He believes it is a blood
disease and all he needs is to find an English doctor who
will be able to cure him. He had been captured two years
before and enslaved by an evil woman who did all sorts of
horrific things to him one of which was take his blood. Elizabeth Rochewell is half Egyptian and half
English. She helped her father with his expeditions as
she could translate the hieroglyphs better than anyone
else. Now her father has died and she is being sent home
to England but that is not home to her. She knows she'll
only be ridiculed when she gets there. Elizabeth befriends Ian only because he seems to
be intelligent and can play a decent game of Chess.
Little does she know that this may be the single most
important thing she's done on the trip to England. She is
very curious about Ian especially when she observes
strange things about him. Ian knows he has to trust
someone but can it be Elizabeth? I bow deeply to Susan Squires' imagination. I
have not read one book by this author that simply did not
blow me away. This book is no exception. As fascinating
as this book is, I'm anxious to revisit Susan's vampire
world.
