"Delightful medieval romance"

Late in the fourteenth century, Deirdre Maxwell hates the abrasive Borderlands. Perhaps the only thing she loathes more is her abusive spouse Brodie who uses their daughter Maeve as a pawn to keep Deirdre in line. Still, he cannot stop her dreams of one day returning to her hometown of Donegal, Ireland. Her yearning becomes so deep Deirdre can taste the kiss of her true love in a vision.

His clan has banished Alistair Kirallen as a traitor. His only refuge is with a mystic, who sends him on a quest to find his future: Deirdre. He offers to serve Brodie until he learns that his new master cruelly controls Alistair's beloved fantasy Deirdre.

LAIRD OF THE MIST is an exciting historical romance due to the fascinating lead characters whose interactions and personal flaws make the story line hum. The plot moves forward at a rapid speed except when excessive secondary players seem to decelerate the pace by providing no evident purpose. Still overall, Elizabeth English has written a strong tale of redemption and love that shows her debut novel, THE BORDER BRIDE, was no fluke.

Summary
