REVIEW

"A totally awesome contemporary romance!"

Gemma Dante owns a small bookstore in Greenwich Village where a little incense burns, Celtic music plays softly and you can have tarot cards read. In short, Gemma is very unique. She practices witchcraft and is looking for "Mr. Right." All she asks for is a man with kind eyes -- a wise man, full of compassion, who won't judge her and accepts her for who she is.

That's easier said than done in New York City, until Gemma meets Sean Kinnealy, a firefighter who lives in the apartment directly above her. He smiles and his blue eyes are so alive and full of life that Gemma thinks: "Old Soul, Good Heart." Perfect!

There's an immediate attraction, and the chemistry is explosive. But there are issues. Gemma thinks that every time Sean goes to work, he might never return because of the dangers of his job. She worries unmercifully. Sean is having a hard time dealing with a girlfriend who has an altar in her spare bedroom. They are just so different. Is chemistry enough? Can these two beautiful people work through their differences?

TOTAL RUSH is just that -- a total rush, an absolute delight. Deirdre Martin is the reason I read romance novels. When I read her debut book, BODY CHECK, I knew this remarkable new author was bound for greatness. It was terrific. FAIR PLAY followed, and I was mesmerized once again; melting my heart with each pass on and off the ice. TOTAL RUSH continued this glorious series. This contemporary romance is well-written, has a hero to --die for and a romance that turns you into a puddle. It fills your heart to overflowing with love, acceptance and the beauty of uniqueness. I laughed, I cried, I celebrated. Lose yourself in this wonderful new romance and the conclusion to a remarkable series. It's more than a read, it is a reread. Brava, Ms. Martin, you're the greatest!

Summary

FOUR ALARM PASSION

Free spirit Gemma Dante might be the black sheep of her big Italian family, but when it comes to business, her New Age boutique is the best in the Big Apple. Longing for a love life that's just as successful, Gemma casts a spell to bring her Mr. Right. But when the cosmic wires get crossed, not one but TWO men enter her life. One's a little too far "off" for even Gemma's tastes. The other's a clean-cut firefighter who's anything but her type...

But the more she gets to know firefighter Sean Kennealy, the more he grows on Gemma. And for his part, Sean doesn't know quite what to make of his pretty neighbor who burns incense and sometimes wears Birkenstocks. He only knows that being near her sparks a fire in him that even the guys at Ladder 29, Engine 31 can't put out...
