With its magical boundaries failing and the dark things encroaching, Llandrana is in need of a savior. So the Marshalls, guardians of Llandrana, call for their champion, their Exotique -- a female warrior to hold back the evil. They send out their song and summon her to them.

"Help us. Come to us. We need you here as no one there ever will." Alexa Fitzwalter hears the Marshall's call and steps through the silver arch and into her future. The street- smart lawyer is used to thinking on her feet. However, Alexa can't even understand the language in this strange new world she's entered, much less its politics and customs. Confused and alone, Alexa must fulfill her destiny as the Marshalls see it. As she waits for a door to open that will take her home, they strive to bind her more firmly to Llandrana. When she meets Bastien, a Chevalier, the binds to Llandrana start to tighten and suddenly home seems very far away.

From her first book, Robin D. Owens has been a fan favorite. She's a world builder and excels at it. She's not afraid to bring in a lot of secondary characters and use them throughout the story. They don't just disappear or show up for some comic relief (or evil doing). As in Ms. Owens' highly popular Heart series, she uses her trademark animal sidekicks and their voices ring true for the reader. Alexa's relationship with Bastien is sweet and sexy, not forced. He's necessary, but not a plot point. Fans will gobble up GUARDIAN OF HONOR and still be hungry for more.

Summary

For Alexa Fitzwalter, the Marshall's call pulled the savvy lawyer into a realm where she barely understood the language, let alone the intricacies of politics and power. Armed only with her wits, a mystical companion and the help of the chevalier, Bastien, Alexa must use her very human mind and skills to fight the encroaching evil-and resist manipulation by the Marshalls to force her to stay in Lladrana.

Now torn between her affinity for this realm and Earth, if given the chance to return home will she? Or dare she risk everything for a land not her own?
