"Delightful, heartwarming romantic comedy."
First love, even if unreciprocated, stays with you long
after the first bloom has opened and dropped to the ground.
Dory Lambert is no exception to the rule. She's managed to
grow up from a gangling 14-year-old into a savvy, nervy go
get em' young woman. But when Chase McKay, her childhood
crush, walks back into her crazy, upturned life, long-
buried emotions and feelings surface with agonizing clarity
the moment she sees his handsome face. Dory, however, is
not the same moon-faced teenager who used to watch the
chauffeur's son like a love-sick hawk. Now, she's a full-
grown woman -- a woman with a mission to save her family and
her way of life from being completely destroyed by a
vengeful relative. Full of intelligence, vigor and love for both her immediate
and extended families, Dory is out to clear the family name
and bring prosperity back to all of them. If she must step
back from her heart to catch the criminal and save the day,
then she'll willingly sacrifice love for honor, no matter
how badly it hurts. Even if it means her sister, Jill,
takes Dory's place at the altar just as she took her place
in Chase's heart years ago. Chase McKay left in veiled disgrace 18 years ago from the
only place he knew of as home. Now a world renowned
architect, he's come back to collect his dad from what he
sees as an unending life of servitude. His goal is to let
his father live out the rest of his life being served
instead of being the server. His dad, however, has more
than just loyalty keeping him at The Outlook Inn, things
his son refuses to see, let alone comprehend. However,
Chase didn't count on the Lambert sisters throwing crazy
curve balls of love his way. Toss in the irascible and
lovable Aunt Ping, a neurotic FBI agent who'd be better
placed as a circus clown, and a cast of other unforgettable
characters, and things at the Outlook Inn have never been
crazier. Will true love triumph or will the "honeymoon
suite" contain the wrong bride? Ms. Michaels has again turned out a delightful story full
of heartwarming characters who continue touching the heart
long after the reader turns the last page. This story
doesn't just showcase one type of love; instead it displays
all the seasons and nuances of love complete with shades of
good and bad. That many of the characters are zany and
unconventional at times, makes it all the more fun to read
and will bring smiles and chuckles even as it evokes groans
and sighs. This is a romantic comedy of the highest degree
and should become a savored memory, just like catching the
bride's bouquet.
