REVIEW

"I pray for a sequel!"

There is nothing I didn't like about this cutting-edge futuristic romance. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy books that can't be pegged as one genre or another but combine several genres. Susan Kearney does this beautifully.

First we meet Tessa Camen who has trained all of her life in one way, shape or form. She is now head of security to the very first woman President of the United States. When she realizes that someone is trying to assassinate the President, she saves the President's life at the cost of her own or so she thinks.

When next we encounter Tessa, she wakes up naked in the arms of the most incredibly gorgeous man named Kahn. Kahn tells her she's been brought to the future seconds before the bullet meant for the President would have killed her instantly. He informs Tessa that she has been chosen to take The Challenge so his planet can become a full member of the Federation. Tessa does not understand any of this. Kahn tells Tessa he needs to train her so she can take The Challenge. She needs to open her mind and find her psi. That's the only way she will be able to train. Tessa emphatically tells Kahn he's crazy and she doesn't have any psi.

Kahn has no idea what he's gotten himself and Tessa into. Tessa is an Earthling and not like any woman he's every encountered before. She's strong, outspoken and nothing like the women from his planet. Will she ever be ready for The Challenge? Kahn thinks he can bring about Tessa's psi by getting her hot and bothered. He does not know Tessa well at all. For one thing she's a virgin only because her fiancé died before they had a chance to get intimate.

From Dora, the computer to Jypeg, the evil alien who wants Kahn and Tessa dead, each and every character is essential to this intriguing story. I was hooked from the first paragraph. Even though the phrase 'this was a page-turner' is very over-used, it definitely applies to this fascinating book. I just hope Susan Kearney sees fit to let us peek into this world that she's created many more times!

Summary

SHE WAS SHOT PROTECTING THE PRESIDENT, AND
WOKE UP NAKED, IN THE ARMS OF A HUNK...
...a hunk named Kahn, who told Secret Service agent Tessa Camen an outlandish story about traveling through time, saving the world, and a Challenge only she can accept. Kahn offers her proof she can't refute: Tessa has been brought forward through time to save Earth by winning an intergalactic challenge.

Kahn only has a few weeks to train Tessa to use the psi-abilities he insists she has. He is confident in the success of a time-honored method that uses sexual frustration to bring out her powers, but Tessa is dubious. She's a martial arts expert and can fight her way through anything, but she's never had much luck with emotions.

Luckily for Earth, Kahn can be very convincing...
