REVIEW

"Heavy on Intrigue!"

Erin Marshall is still waffling about marrying Chet Dever when a van tries to run her down. She loses all memory of that day so Chet tells her that she had accepted his proposal. So why does she feel as if something just not right about this whole situation.

Erin lives at her mother's and step-father's house while she's recovering from her accident but she feels very uncomfortable around her mother, her step-father and the house where they now live.

Then on the day of her wedding her high school sweetheart, the guy she never forgot or got over, crashes her wedding. Joseph Lowery now a cop and can't seem to get a suitable answer out of Erin's mother about her accident where she fell out of a boat a couple of months earlier. When he tells Erin to call her boss, she finds out that she had decided not to marry Chet.

Joseph has no choice but to persuade Erin to go with him so he can keep her safe until they find out who is trying to not only kill her mother but her as well. The problem is their attraction never went away but they have more important matters to attend to first.

This romantic suspense is heavy on the suspense and kept me guessing right to the very end. The villain came right out of nowhere. I've read and thoroughly enjoyed many of Jacqueline Diamond's books. It is my fervent hope that she has many more to write!

Jacqueline Diamond has authored more than 55 Harlequins, including five Intrigues. In addition, her hardcover mystery, "Danger Music," written under the name Jackie Diamond Hyman, is currently available at Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com. Jackie is a former Associated Press reporter who lives in Southern California with her husband, two cats and the younger of her two teen-age sons (the elder just left for college). "The Stolen Bride," her September Intrigue, is a fast-moving mystery involving amnesia, warring loyalties and several surprising twists. In December, Harlequin American will publish "The Baby's Bodyguard," which also contains a strong suspense element.

Summary

Crashing his high-school sweetheart's society wedding might be going above and beyond the call of duty, but Officer Joseph Lowery instinctively detected something unsettling—sinister, even—about Erin Marshall's impending union with a man she couldn't even remember saying yes to.

After her harrowing "accident," Erin's memory had been wiped clean of the day she'd nearly been killed. And now the bewildered heiress was spending what would have been her honeymoon dodging bullets with the blue collar cop who risked his badge—and his life—to shield her from a dangerous criminal. If only she could recollect something...other than how badly she'd once wanted—still wanted—her dynamic protector....
