"Dangerous Secrets!"
Mataya Black Hawk is a normal teenage girl invited to
participate in a very special dance contest run by Dance
Jam Productions. At least she appears to be normal. For as
close as she appears to her good friends, there's
something none of them know about her, something that she
and her guardian, Tykota Black Hawk. Two events, however, are bound to change that secret and
complicate it as well. The first begins when Mattie (Mataya) meet Jarek Thanos
and the second when they decide to enter a dance contest.
For Jarek wants to be much more than a simple boyfriend to
Mattie, and neither of them know that there's a huge
problem with this contest that has nothing to do with
their dancing and will make them targets of several
scheming criminals. In Ty (Tykota's) role as protector, accompanied by ex-Navy
seal partners and trained wolves, he must race to protect
Mattie from the looming danger. This is one heck of a great plot! Even though the reader may know the end will be
successful, the turns in the clues and characters keep the
pace flying, assisted by a very realistic growing romance
that never becomes artificial or gooey. There are some
interesting scenes about dealing with awful memories and
living a centered, peaceful live despite whatever
challenges are looming. Celise Downs' writing talent has clearly grown since her
last book, Secrets and Kisses, and this reviewer eagerly
awaits more young adult novels that will appeal to any
teenager in America and beyond. Reviewed by Viviane Crystal on October 30, 2004
