"Deliciously fun!"
Ellie Peters is not having a good day....actually not
a good year! She decided that she simply couldn't
tolerate
her live in boyfriend another minute especially since he
told her he hates her dog Barnaby, a bulldog with a face
only a mother could live. All Barn did was pee in Brian's
Bruno Magli loafers. It was an accident, for heavens
sakes. Now Ellie has to find a place to live in downtown
Manhattan ASAP before Brian gets back from L. A. Finally having solved the problem of where to
live,
Ellie has another crisis. Her mother finds out that her
father is having an online affair with some bimbo and
decides to come for an extended visit to decide what she
wants to do. Then Ellie's co-worker and friend doesn't
want
to move to the suburbs in an house next to her mother-in-
law and asks Ellie for advice. To top it all off, Ellie's
ex-fiancé is now her boss. What else could go wrong? Michael Deavers, Ellie's boss and ex-fiancé
realizes that he's never gotten over Ellie but he still
isn't sure about commitment. Still, he wonders if he can
rekindle their romance. Ellie isn't having any part of it
but why does Michael still have the ability to make her
knees weaken and her libido go wild? She hates him,
doesn't
she? This book was simply a joy to read. I laughed and
I cried and then laughed some more. The characters
ranging
from gay Will, Ellie's personal trainer to Will's
eccentric
grandmother to Ellie's mother to Ellie and Michael were an
eclectic cast who worked very well together. Of course
one
of my favorite characters was Barnaby, the bulldog. Millie
Criswell can count me in as a die-hard fan!

SummaryEllie Peters has a great apartment, a cool job as a UN
interpreter, and a terrific dog. Now all she needs is the
right guy to share it with and life will be perfect. But
everything she's worked for is threatened the day her
obsessive-compulsive, disinfectant-loving mother announces
she's divorcing Ellie's father and moving in with her! And
to add insult to injury, Ellie's just learned that her ex-
fiance, Michael, has become her new boss!
Michael Deavers remembers all too well the sparks that
flew
between him and Ellie. He'd love to rekindle what they
once
had, but he learned from their brief engagement that he's
just not a commitment kind of guy. Though with Ellie once
again under his nose, it's hard to remember why he ever
had
cold feet.
Now Ellie is desperate to get Michael out of her head, her
mother out of her hair and her life out of the
gutter...but
old flames die hard, and this interpreter hasn't counted
on
the language of love.
