"Another fantastic romance from this talented author!"
The Countess of Glasbury, after hiding in Europe to escape
her cruel husband, has come home. Desperate to be free of
her husband, she turns naturally to the solicitor and
friend who has always been supportive and discreet, Julian
Hampton. Little does she know of the passion Julian has hidden
behind his calm demeanor. She has no idea the numerous
letters he has written to her, confessing his feelings.
Because he's a gentleman to the core, Julian has never sent
them. And it would be inappropriate to show his feelings
now, when Penelope is so distraught and possibly in danger
at leaving her marriage. I have read each of Ms. Hunter's books, waiting impatiently
for the next one. As soon as I read the last page, I
alternately sigh with delight and mourn the fact that there
is no other Madeline Hunter book awaiting my eager
absorption. If you haven't discovered this wonderful
author, you have a treat in store. I keep expecting the
books to lose some of their draw, but it doesn't happen.
Head for the bookstore!

SummaryJulian Hampton is the fifth member of the London Dueling
Society, the reserved, enigmatic lawyer to the Laclere
family. All his life, it seemed, Julian had been in love
with Penelope, now Countess of Glasbury. And when he
learned the horrors she had endured at the hands of her
vicious husband, Julian was instrumental in arranging for
her escape to Italy. But he has never forgotten the love
of his childhood, the woman he had rescued first as
a "damsel in distress" when she was a girl, and then for
real once she had blossomed into woman. When Penelope
returns secretly to London, Julian is the one she turns
to, even though her trust in him puts both their
reputations, and ultimately their lives, in peril.
