"Excellent followup to THE EDGE OF MIDNIGHT."
Even in her time of grief, principal Narice Jordan is not
someone of whom to take advantage. Therefore, when she gets
kidnapped not once, but twice, the day after her father's
funeral, she furiously lashes out, even as her latest
abductor attempts to convince her that he works for the
President and is trying to help. Narice soon discovers that
her beloved father was known as the Keeper to at least one
President and one Queen. She has to decide whether to
remain in peril as she chips away at a family and
international mystery while in the company of the
illustrious man of action known as "Saint." Excellently written, THE EDGE OF DAWN is more than a quick
romance with a suspenseful framework. Instead, it keeps the
reader involved from the first page to the last, with a
plethora of amusing characters and a smooth backstory from
her previous book, THE EDGE OF MIDNIGHT. Though written
beautifully, some of the placement of descriptors "brother"
and "sister" throughout the book appear sprinkled
needlessly merely to remind the reader of the ethnicity or
culture of the characters. However, Ms. Jenkins does a
wonderful job giving her characters life and layers that
take them beyond the written page into the real world and
encourage the reader to think of the similarity to someone
familiar. A quick but intense read, this is a great book to
lure one away from fluffy summer tales into something more
substantial.
